Last week, I did a talk at the AWS User Group in Leeds [0] over in Parallax's office [1] on the work my team and I have been doing with Westfield Health [2]. I talked about _why_ we used AWS and how we went about it, what went well and what didn't.
This week, there's even more tech stuff going on in Leeds this week than normal because it's the Leeds Digital Festival this week. Every time I've been into the office something has been going on.
I was asked to put together a lunchtime talk on real-world experience of using Go, so I roped in some colleagues (Denis Craig, Thomas Gray [3]) and asked Alan Rasion [4] to speak.
I got a quick show of hands, and out of the 50 or so people who came along, only a few had actually used Go, or even installed it on their computers. The free food and drink probably helped get people along, but it's nice to know that people are willing to get out of their offices just to find something out about something they've only heard about.
Next time I do a lunchtime thing, I'm going to keep it a bit shorter - 3 speakers was too much. Since the first speaker got hammered with questions that were more about Go than about his talk, I think another hands-on event might be a good thing to do.
