1. That banning/mandating/regulating (something) would make life nicer in some regard is not sufficient reason to actually do so.

2. Don’t be heartless. Maybe not everyone’s fighting some hard battle you’re just not privy to, but it’s more common than you know, and it’s not just the people you like.

3. You wouldn’t treat anyone *else* this badly, so why are you doing it to yourself?

4. You can change and be things you currently aren’t. You aren’t in any hardwired way cursed or excluded from life.

5. It’s easy to be a saint in paradise or a devil in hell. Would you be equally good under all circumstances?

6. If life gives you lemons, you can still just go explore the universe.

7a. Consider how much the media get wrong about the stuff you know. How much do they get wrong about the stuff you *don’t* know?

7b. And how much might “your side” be getting wrong about “the other side”? Are only the bad guys biased?

9. The truth doesn’t care about your feelings, but stuff’s not true just because it hurts.
