I despise Capitalism and most other -isms (political systems that prefer A over B). But I believe that people are generally good, or if they are not, it is still wrong to opress them using violence or threats thereof.
Sigh. The Supreme Court, the ultimate machine of opression masquerading as an instrument of freedom. What a bunch of assholes.
That said, I think they are entirely correct in allowing people to run their business and choose whom they want to work for. If some asshole does not want to make a gay website, it is their stupid decision. The market will favor those who don't arbitrarily exclude large affluent groups of customers. But forcing other people to do what you opine to be 'right' is clearly WRONG in every possible way.
And so I will side with the assholes, because you cannot fight opressors with equal but opposite OPRESSION. Then, you have two opressors, and you are _the problem_. You can't fight for truth with lies; you can't fight for peace with ... Well, you can't fight for peace anyway. If the world isn't ready it won't happen -- otherwise you are in for a fight that you, the self-proclaimed peace-loving asshole, started!
I will not be winning any points with the liberals here, so hate me if you want. But I challenge you to stop being full of shit. Your idea of what's right is not necessarily right, and in any event, no one should be forced to do what they don't want -- as long as they are not ACTUALLY hurting others. Not making a website for an imaginary gay couple is not something to talk about. Such couple can find someone who loves making websites for gay couples -- they will do a better job anyway. And if they want to make _only_ gay websites - also great. We need all kinds of website makers apparently.
As long as I am at it, screw affirmative action. I've run businesses, and I'll tell you this: there is no better way to support and incite racism than hire someone based on the color of their skin. That is just disgusting, any way I look at it. Everyone who is passed over because _their_ skin color will bear a grudge for a long, long time. I thought the point was to abolish racism, not force people into institutionalized racism.
Instead of separating ourselves into groups with pronouns (inviting friction) and invented labels (LGBTQI... - a new letter gets added every few years, not winning any points here) we should work on integrating the society. Not by fiat, but by being good to each other. Wouldn't it be better to live in a society with no genders, where we are equal in every way and can choose a partner any way we please? Creating new arbitrary gender divides does the opposite, and expecting the general population to truly embrace it is just foolish. Maybe there is a smarter way to accomplish integration that than sticking out like a proverbial sore thumb.
I feel for Black Lives and screw the police, but again, whoever came up with the Black Lives Matter slogan is a fucking moron. It is an invitation for every asshole out there who is not Black to say "Hey, so my life does not matter? Screw them!". Stupid, stupid. Integration, not separatism, people.
Sometimes I think the goal is just to incite violence, create general mayhem and make some groups feel more 'relevant' without actually accomplishing anything.
