I think that the "Tales of ..." series was around its peak in the PS 2 era. Tales of Legendia and Tales of the Abyss were great games.

I remember Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana extremely fondly. I haven't played it in about 15 years. I hope it's actually as good as I remember. Beats the heck out of more recent Atelier Iris titles, for sure.

As Acidus already mentioned, Katamari Damacy and We Love Katamari are gems.

If you want to try something truly bizarre, check out "Chulip". It's...well, it's something, that's for sure.

Oh nice! PS2 was one of my favorite consoles from high-school through to finishing university in 2010, and I got a ton of use of it. Some favorites I liked: Katamari Damacy, We Love Katamari, Soul Calibur 3, Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, Odin Sphere, R-Type Final, Gradius V, Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3, Okami, Killer7, Shadow of the Colossus, Wild Arms 3, Final Fantasy X, Ape Escape 2, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2, to name a few I own / remember liking. And if you count the PS1 compatibility up to later-gen slim models, there's even more to check out! It even had a "fast disc" option that could make those games load faster, and you could back up PS1 memory cards onto a bigger PS2 card, which was nice.

What are your favorite PS2 titles? — While some may not consider it "retro" as such, as a younger millennial I spent most of my childhood gaming on a Sony PlayStation 2. I was especially fond of the Jak and Daxter and Splinter Cell series. Since re-acquiring a fat PS2 as an adult, I've been eager to check out some of the more obscure (in the US at least) titles out there. I've been working my way through King's Field IV and Nightmare of Druaga lately. I'd love to hear what other folks'...
