Overheating router

2023-7-26

As my router keeps overheating every few hours and needing to be shut off, unplugged and left for a while to cool down before it is usable again all I can think about are all the people who keep hyping up passively cooled computers.

I don't get it. With weather conditions getting more and more extreme every year and temperatures that used to be unheard of becoming just another Tuesday... shouldn't we start thinking about adding active cooling to more things instead of removing it from things that do have it? I love silence as much as you do but if I had to choose between noisy appliances and stuff that needs to be babied 24/7 as soon as winter ends I'll take the noise any day.

Anyway all this thinking about router made me finally get off my ass and do some more research about those martian broadcast packets my computer complains about when I reboot the modem while it is on. I don't quite feel confident enough to write a (potentially wrong) explanation about it but yeah... I think I got it. If I'm every fully sure I'll write it.
