capsule is back up
learned the hard way the difference between user and system services in systemd. blindly following the instructions for gmcapule had me install as a user and when I logged out it stopped. Fixed by putting in /etc/systemd/system/ like I should have.

@skyjake interesting! thank you I'll look into that. I am enjoying the server thus far. hoping to toy around with some cgi soon · 3 months ago
You can still run it as a user service and have it stick around after you log out. Check out "man loginctl" and "enable-linger":
Enable/disable user lingering for one or more users. If enabled for a specific user, a user manager is spawned for the user at boot and kept around after logouts. This allows users who are not logged in to run long-running services. Takes one or more user names or numeric UIDs as argument. If no argument is specified, enables/disables lingering for the user of the session of the caller. · 3 months ago
no fault of the instructions, I just didn't do my homework. · 3 months ago
