Re: "I'm thinking about some subspaces that would be nice to..."

Comment in: s/Geminispace

Multispaces would be a great idea. Then people can have their specific subspaces, too.

Some reasons for having monothematic subspaces are Nintendo vs. Sega, Atari vs. Commodore, etc. Often, people are only interested in one, but definitively not the other.

@michaelnordmeyer I added an issue for that:

Multi-spaces would be a nice solution. Retrogaming would be a good more general sub I think. Since there probably wouldn't be enough traffic to drown out any of the more niche stuff and really niche subs would probably see very little posting. Not that I'm against them existing if people want them but rather I'd hate to clutter up the subspaces with subs that are deserted.

@kelbot Nobody really knows beforehand, if a to-be-created subspace would garner much interest.

Ok, thanks for the input everyone. I want to start a somewhat general gaming subspace. How about one that covers more than just retro gaming but not just all gaming. More like retrogaming, homebrew, indie, terminal...called smolgaming?

a retro gaming space would be great! i'm in the process of hooking up all my old systems and gathering up all my childhood games for them. would be fun to have somewhere to talk about that stuff :)

@kelbot My feeling is that a "smolgaming" would be less about retro and more about indie/terminal/pico8 kind of things. People might not think of posting retro things in there... Maybe have both retrogaming and smolgaming?

I'm thinking about some subspaces that would be nice to start. However, I'm not sure how specific to get with them since I don't think there's enough traffic to warrant hyper-specific topics. For example we have /s/GameBoy and I was thinking about starting other similar retro gaming subspaces but I'm not sure. Maybe it would be better to start a more all encompassing subspace like retrogaming rather than a bunch of more specific ones. Thoughts?
