Interestingly my font in Lagrange is inserting ligatures for the "<===>", that may be a problem...

ASCII art is typically displayed with a monospaced (fixed-width) font. Gemini clients will render it correctly as long as it's inside of a ``` preformatted block. But you will need to use an external program like vim or notepad++ with a monospaced font to draw it, and then copy-paste it into the comment editor.
