Finally out of COVID lockdown, and with a sunny afternoon, so I took myself off on a longer bike ride, east to the end of the Djerring trail then down the trail alongside creek and river to Carrum and back up the bay. All the usual birdlife suspects, here's a grab bag list:
White ibis[1] in their noisy smelly rookery, Black swans[2] on the river, Chestnut teal[3], Black duck[4], Australian pelican[5], a flight of Straw-necked ibis[6] circling overhead, three or four Darter[7] draping themselves out to dry, flocks of Silver gull[8], a lone Pacific gull[9] on a street light, a mixed mob of Pied cormorant[10] and Black cormorant[11], Coot[12] paddling frantically, a pair of White-eared honeyeaters[13] chasing each other around in the wattle, and the ubiquitous Noisy miners[14]
