2022/0307/1630 — pock!

A cool autumnal morning, then a warm and late summer feel to the afternoon — leaving work to ride home thunderclouds had built up and the air felt damp, I thought I might be in for some rain.

Passing through the Huntingdale wetlands I detoured off the main Scotchmans creek trail to ride around the ponds on the gravel tracks, everywhere I went the frogs were calling endlessly! Pock! Pock! Pock! Po-po-po-pock-pock! So many of them that they were over the top of each other, but all of one type... and checking back through my notes on when I looked up frog types its the Striped Marsh frog[1]. Try as I could I couldn't hear any other types calling. Obviously the torrential rain overnight on Friday hadn't washed them away, if anything it seems to have livened them up and put them in the mood for a song
