The sky is grey and the air was damp on my ride to work this morning, my currently used morning commute takes me down the Djerring trail then straight north through Clayton to Monash Uni. Along the bike path beside Browns road I pass under a large row of gum trees, all currently flowering. The path is littered with fragments of red & yellow blossoms, fallen or knocked off by the parrots and honeyeaters. The trees overhead are full of the shrieking of Rainbow lorikeets[1] and Noisy miners[2]... apparently sometimes there can be Swift parrots[3] in the area, but I've never definitely spotted one.
