The weather has been up and down a bit, autumn gave way to some hot summery days and I went out for a lazy ride late in the afternoon. Found myself in the St Kilda cemetery meandering around all the gravestones and monuments, then down near the south-west corner came upon the strident cries of a few Pied currawong[1] that I traced to a large shady willow... or maybe it was a peppercorn tree, I wasn't really looking at the tree, just trying to cool off in its shade and spot the noise makers above. They still sound out of place to me, from childhood I associate them with the coolness of a Canberra autumn and winter when they came down from the mountains and moved in to town.
