2020/1206/1730 — prolific wetlands

A leisurely ride around this afternoon, taking it easy on account of an ache in the legs and slightly tender from the big ride yesterday. Anniversary trail, Ferndale Track, Glen Iris wetlands and stop to look at the results of the current breeding season.

There's a coot[1] swimming around with a large squawking chick following it around making a constant noise, the three White-faced heron[2] chicks standing in the nest swaying back and forth are looking a little more feathered, a little less downy and scruffy. Over to the next lookout spot and a Pacific black duck[3] is cruising about almost below me with a small brood of five ducklings, further over on the mudflats a pair of Dusky moorhen[4] with four chicks.
