We have been spending a lot of time outside lately and I'm noticing a lot of beautiful flowers blooming all around. I'm not very knowledgable with regards to identifiying plants so I have no idea what any of these are but I find the colors very pretty and vibrant. During our walk today I became jealous of a neighbor who has 2 banana plants bearing large clusters of berries (I think banana's are technically classified as a berry). We have two clusters of banana plants in our back yard but none of them have any fruit at the moment. We have gotten bananas from them twice before though.
I'm a big fan of doing things in the terminal when I use the computer. It's part geekiness factor part efficiency and part flexibility that I really dig about it. The computer I use most at the moment is a PINE64 Pinetab which is a 10 inch tablet running linux (currently postmarketOS which is based on alpine linux). It is my most used device because it sits in probably the most easily accessed spot in the house and acts as my dashboard for various pertinent information and controlling my whole house synchronized music setup. My dashboard also runs in the terminal.
The reason I'm mentioning this is I'm planning on doing a write-up of how I put the dashboard together because I always get a lot of questions about it when I post screenshots on the fediverse. In addition to that I am thinking about starting a section of my capsule for highlighting neat and useful terminal programs. Kind of in the same vein as the amazing Inconsolation blog by K. Mandla. If you're a terminal junky you very likely have come across this blog at some point. Rather than do my own version of the same thing I want to do a smaller scoped best of style list of the stuff I think is really great.
Since I love a good mashup this reminds me that I need to try out Astrobotany. Astrobotany is a bit like a virtual flower tamagotchi hosted on gemini. You can plant a virtual flower and take care of it and other people can help take care of your flower if you neglect it. Ok so it's not inherently a terminal virtual flower but I browse gemini in the terminal with Amfora at least 75% of the time so it is for me.
