It has taken some time for me to articulate why I'm uneasy about your work on attestation and TPM support in the kernel and related..
I think the problem is that you know that your work will be used as a munition in the war against general purpose computing.
Big corporations want the general public to buy (or alternatively, rent a license to use) a device that the big corop controls, from the bare metal up, so they can take everything we have to offer from it, ideally without our informed consent and force upon us tracking and advertising.
Your work on kernel security and attestation through the TPM gives them the technical abilities to do this easily and scale it out and I beleive you're smart enough to figure that out.
I'm sure there are more sophisticated arguments for and against this. I don't have any solutions. I'm uneasy about it.
I understand one flipside at least is your work enables a savvy activist to more completely control the risk associated with bringing truth to power, and maybe that's enough of an offset. It's certainly something I'll be trying to learn and investigate now that the latest fascist ratchet has clicked over in Australia, "The Surveillance Legislation Amendment (Identify and Disrupt) Bill 2020" :(
Planet is Fuckt. I'm moving to a small community and learning how to grow stuff.
