Re: Does being queer and/or TGD contraindicate STEM?

gemini://republic.circumlunar.space/users/flexibeast/gemlog/2020-10-03.gmi

My experience of tech is possibly biased by my interest in free software and growing up in Canberra (A relatively progressive part of Australia). There have been queer, furries, obviously and completely passing trans folks involved in just about every facet of the community since I've been involved in it.

I'm not obviously a member of any minority group, looking like your typical unix greybeard (though I'm not yet 40, I had a very hard time with our young children), so may well be shielded by that, but the community around linux and free software has appeared to me to be very accepting and strong allies for queer folks.

I have had only limited contact with any other parts of the STEM acronym, I did some undergrad physics maths and chemistry but was not heavily involved in the communities around those spaces
