🍎 You decide to follow the sign on your right that reads, “APPLE FESTIVAL THIS WAY —>” in red and green paint.
You make your way down the trail, which is lined with a variety of trees, red, orange, yellow, green, and brown. It curves a bit so that as you move forward, you can no longer see the intersection behind you. You hear the calls of blue jays, the knocks of woodpeckers, and the alarm calls of grey squirrels and chickadees as you walk past. The leaves swish and crunch under your footsteps. A cloud passes in front of the sun, sending the woods into brief shadow before it moves on and sunlight once again shines, filtering through the swaying, creaking branches.
🎺 As you walk further down the trail, you begin to hear bumping horns and drums beyond the trees—a live band is playing cheery music in the distance. When you walk closer, you hear the faint bubbling drone of a crowd talking and laughing. “That must be the Apple Festival,” you think to yourself.
🪓 But just as you’re about to pick up the pace toward the merriment, you hear a large chopping sound nearby that echoes through the wood. Your foot stops in midair and you twist to your right. The chopping sounds continue, and you can hear someone playfully whistling a classical tune. You crane your neck, peering through the trees, but the foliage is too thick to see anyone.
What do you want to do next?
🎺 Head down the trail toward the sound of the crowd and music
🪓 Venture off-trail to find the source of the chopping and whistling
