my wife and i will have been married just shy of two years. we met later in life so we both brought the burdens of life with us when we first moved in. in our case, two cats (zola and lexi) and a miniature schnauzer named sadie. somewhere along the storied path of her life, my wife picked up the habit of assigning nicknames to things by just repeating the first two syllables, so zo-zo and say-say were thusly named. lex-lex just doesn't have the same ring, and as she's a siamese mix who loves to make her presence knowen, she's earned the nickname squeak.

we welcomed two lovely children into our family last summer, near the end of the first wave of the pandemic up here in our socialist paradise. along with the insatiable desire to deliver bad jokes at awkward times, becoming a father has also awoken a hidden talent of making up silly songs to sing to calm, distract or (mostly) amuse them. one day, mid-cry (whether me or them is a bit hazy at this point), both cats wandered into the room looking for whatever it is cats want when they bother to come by, and the theme song to the "zozo and squeak show" was born.

while it's never received any funding for a pilot episode, zozoandsqueak seemed a perfectly lovely name for this blog/gemlog/glog or whatever we're calling these things
