Oh, and sourcehut (sr.ht the Github alternative) supports hosting gemtext / capsules - that is cool.
Also cities.yesterweb.org supports hosting Gemini pages.
Both of these hosts look very stable.
I use sourcehut and it's pretty reliable.
tilde.cafe has been great; ctrl-c.club is also.
i've been using cities.yesterweb.org with no troubles or surprise downtime, but it's also the first thing i tried, admittedly
I really appreciate the responses of all!
Part of me is just a little bitter of having to put effort into restoring my capsule, including redoing links. I mean, I'm fine with getting next to zero attention for next to zero effort. But the bang-for-the-buck-meister shudders at the thought of being at the precipice of regularly-schedule moves requiring link massage. It doesn't help that I signed up for account with three or four other hosting sites hours ago, and still haven't heard back from any. I suppose that's nicely in line with the pace of those of the so-called "smol persuasion".
So I'm actually contemplating creating a simple "Google site" to collect unimportant - yet in need of going somewhere - thoughts such at these. Quick edit, quick copy/paste, done. And it goes without saying I'll likely never have to agonize over downtime.
Hopefully that's not too treasonous-sounding a revelation in these parts.

@textmonger If you get your own domain name and stick to the sites, which allow for using them, then a move wouldn't change any links. You would just copy the files over and point the domain name to the new hosting provider.
A site hosted by Google has the same URL problems. You might not want to host with Google in the future for various reasons or they decide tho shutdown this service, as they have with so many, even though it feels unfathomable today.

@textmonger I understand what you’re saying, but I do think google sites might be just about the worst option you can choose. In other words, it is a treasonous sounding revelation haha.
If you want, I will set you up with a capsule on my server today (textmonger.owlper.ch or anything else). As the server is also used for my family’s business’s website, there is practically no risk of shutting down.
Of course, Google’s promise of no downtime might be more trustworthy than mine. But I hope you feel that there are reasons to stay small.

@satch I'd really appreciate your setting up textmonger.owlper.ch for me. Hit me at textmonger at nym.hush.com with any important details. @all I'm no google fan, yet when you're dead in the water and somewhat on the impatient side, being able to set something up immediately tends to win over hearing not so much as an acknowledgement for days after signing up for capsule accounts at a handful of places.
I really have liked my time with tilde.team, have not had any issues.
