@ivanodin, as @cool110 said, it's pretty straightforward most of the time, you just need to learn what the cards mean in the game you're playing, e.g. in Koi-koi, boar + deer + butterfly = 5pts.

A good beginning set is Junior hanafuda from Louie Mantia Jr.: they're poker-sized and super clear (that was my first set in fact lol)

@ivanodin like with western playing cards there's many different games played with them, Koi-koi being a very popular one. That is fairly straightforward, although you will need a reference sheet for how many points each hand is worth. · 2 months ago
