Mix-tape Thoughts

Avoiding big-techungus

Today I made some editing on my mix-tape page. That reflects how I plan on doing them from now on. Most of it is formatting, but I've been thinking about my next mix-tape for quite a while now. And I have some things plaguing me and consequently, it's compilation.

I want to keep distance from WWW stuff and big-tech, specially with my gemini stuff, if that'd be possible at all. So I decided to try and avoid youtube as much as possible when doing these 'mix-tape' compilations. I replaced almost every youtube link with it's bandcamp counterpart in an effort to keep things less 'big-techy'.

It's not perfect, wish I could avoid the WWW altogether for these, but that would entail spending money I don't have to buy the albums/tracks. Or start sailing the high seas. And I am(/was) a musician, that's not a glorious path at all. Not that switching links from youtube to bandcamp is ~that~ big of a deal, but I feel that this way people are taken to the artists in a more direct way. However, some tracks I could only find on youtube. Sadly, Jim Kirkwood's old stuff is not on his bandcamp page.

GemTape Player?

Ideally I would like to stream the tracks from the server. I have no idea how to go about it, though. Aside from having the files on the server and link to them (and even then I'm sure it's not that simple). I wonder if there's a way to fetch a track through the URL and send it streaming over to the client? Would it be possible to make some sort of 'music player' on gemini? Is there already such a thing? I'd love to hear about it.

Until then...

I'll try my best to keep the links pointing to either bandcamp, soundcloud or some other non-youtube thing.

See ya!
