My role-playing group has 3 Game Masters, and we rotate week-to-week on who is running their campaign. I'm using the more generic 'Game Master', because we wander away from and back to Dungeons & Dragons, though 'DM' would be appropriate right now, because right now all campaigns are using the D&D system.
It is usually between two Dungeon Masters, as it has been a couple of years since I ran adventures consistently. But that is changing :) I have been putting a lot of effort in developing a new campaign, named 'Death of the Duckling'. There is a story behind the name, but it didn't stop the players from creating characters based on the name of the theme, with increasing references to cartoon characters such as 'Darkwing Duck'.
My campaigns never take themselves too seriously, so when one of my players created a cleric which happened to be a goose, that's fine lol. And none of the characters are really sane, but that seems to be the case no matter who the DM is... the character Lantashi included :)
One advantage to having run campaigns before is I have a lot of NPCs I can reuse, including some of the more hated bad guys. I can reintroduce the NPCs with different twists on their personalities and roles. One of my truly evil NPCs in my (heavily modified) verson of Hoard of the Dragon Queen, became a captain in Alternity. I think the players had difficulty not immediately blowing up the NPC's ship lol.
The other two DM's have had busy schedules lately, so I got to run my campaign two weeks in a row. We just finished the first adventure this past weekend. It went pretty well, and was a lot of fun, especially learning the new characters rolled up by the players. While I love being a player, it is pretty cool being back in the "Captain's Seat" sometimes... and I'm really looking forward to prepping the next adventure!
And now, I have a ton more prep to do. The story is just starting to get off the ground!
