today was my first day trying some new logging software. previously, i was using the roastime software from aillio and now i'm on artisan which is open source and supports many different machines. i am excited to join the community using artisan and a free and open source data logger/control suite.
the coffees today are the rest of the kenya from the previous 1lb bag, and starting out a 5lb bag of Columbia Honey Process Aponte which will be my gift coffee for friends once i have it a bit more dialed in, plus my go-to espresso roast.
450g -> 387, 14.0% loss
first roast of this coffee, and first time trying to control the bullet from the artisan software. a little too many things to balance and forgot to mark dry end, twiddled the controls too much but to be expected from a new control suite. i'm pretty excited to see how this coffee tastes, i have found south american coffees are extremely forgiving, at least from an aesthetic perspective, because this final roast looked and smelled incredible. will try this one tomorrow in a french press and hopefully as espresso in a few days!
445g -> 398g, 10.8% loss
the last roast of this one was spectacular so i'm hoping this one hits the same mark. i didn't use a computer for data logging last time, so no way to record a profile. this time the roast seemed to progress quite well, perfect descending rate of rise until first crack started and it's kinda crashed. i got nervous and raised the fan too much, but i let it develop a little longer. we'll see how it turns out!
