Ricciardo is easily one of my favorite drivers in F1, so I was very excited to hear of his return to Alpha Tauri. That said, I have concerns.
Honestly I expected Ricciardo to end up in Indycar or NASCAR after he failed to get a seat this year. It got harder and harder to root for him after his performance on Renault and McLaren. His performance on Red Bull though truly was something to watch, his overtaking ability was amazing.
Alpha Tauri is a cut throat team to return to, and without the car being tuned specifically to him this season, I worry he won't show up with the performance they are hoping for.
I'm also a little sad Nyck is on his way out, was really excited when he signed with Alpha Tauri. His debut performance at Williams incredible, a stark contrast to his teammate Latifi. I guess the Alpha Tauri car is just a different beast.
In related Motorsport news, my wife and I finally started watching Indycar and we're loving it. I'm honestly finding the races more exciting, there's a lot more "edge of the seat" moments. The inclusion of refueling in pit-stops adds another layer of strategy (I understand why F1 removed it, but I miss it). We're already looking at tickets for Indianapolis this August!
