after a night of tiring, inspiring sex, i woke up at 10:18 a.m., the entire company in a zoom meeting while i had been sleeping. i realized my mistake immediately, jumped up, and o.f. asked, "what's going on?"
i just laughed, grabbed my laptop, and logged on.
i'm supposed to be hosting this all-hands meeting, but it seems to be going on just fine without me.
my boss was not happy with my absence. she had to field the questions asking where i was, and i apologized. i had no excuse. i fell asleep seven hours ago and failed to get back up. so goes it.
o.f. left and sent me the goofy pictures she took of me last night on avenue A with a big yellow umbrella and a cozy cardboard box of goodness in my hands.
in the evening, i met c.s. at tompkins and we strolled over to remedy diner, where i propped my phone up against the wall and left it on the live broadcast of the world series game.
she was tired, she's apprehensive about me, even though we respect each other immensely. our conversations go on forever, and that is a blessing. she is bright and beautiful. i am lucky to know her.
at times, though, it felt contentious. annoyed. which side did that originate from? i thought her, and i'm sure that she thought me.
it does come from me. i'm the only reason she has to be contentious in this situation.
we went home and made out until a crackhead started screaming in the street, which was hard to ignore and went on for too long — long enough for me to start fantasizing about walking outside and filing a physical noise complaint.
then, she stared at me and nodded along while i fantasized a screenplay:
- opens with a sex scene where he (unnamed main character) goes outside and knocks out a screaming crackhead
- he is an outside-of-the-law vigilante who exacts justice on corrupt law enforcement
- great relationship with his mother and two sisters, which inspire his vigilante-ism
- silent relationship with his father
- somehow gets away with things
- at the end of the movie, it's revealed that his father, a chief of police, has been helping him do these things all along the way
there were many other details but those bullet points are enough for me to revisit.
i must have said something, because c.s. became melancholy and anxious. earlier, on our walk, she alluded to a conversation with her father and mother about something that happened this week. i'll make no assumptions, but i'd infer it had to do with a boy, and that the experience was not at all pleasant.
she needed a hug, which she received. after a half-hour or so, she left.
