I'm back, yayyyyy
I don't know if anyone reads this gemlog and i can't be bothered to check right now, but if you do, and wondered what happened to this capsule: my cert expired and i didn't notice because i am not to active on here, and i don't read my own stuff often.
As an update to my last post, i actually got an eeepc 4G, and boy oh boy is it limited, the 4GB "SSD" is glacial, and also very small. Besides that the 2GB of RAM is actually plenty, some might even say more than enough, and the cpu is decent. I was planning to run alpine on it, but that seems to involve a lot of jumping through hoops and bending over backwards to get a custom partitioned drive, so i will probably just install debian on it again, let's see if i get to that before debian 12 drops, sadly there is not enough room on the SSD for KDE Plasma, even though with the developers work in the recent years i wouldn't even be surprised if it would run okay.
Playing with the eeepc gave me a silly Idea that i'm probably (definitely) not able to make real, a replacement motherboard for the eeepc 4G (or rather all variants with that chassis), based on either the allwinner d1 (same max RAM, also one core, way lower power draw) or the starfive jh7110 (more powerful, presumably similar enough powerdraw to the celeron m ulv 353 if you don't run it at the max clock)
