Hit a 10 pound weight loss milestone today. Very happy! Doing lots of physical labor and eating right in moderation seems to be paying off. When I started really excercising I was a little discouraged since it seems I actually gained weight, but looking back I think an increase in muscle mass could counter balance weight lost through fat burn, so perhaps measuring my waist would be a more accurate way to see how im doing. My PROXY v2 C# Implementation — Since we're on the subject of reverse-proxies today, here's something I wrote in C# which parses a binary (v2) PROXY-protocol header from the beginning of a Stream. Note that NGINX doesn't support the v2 protocol, only the plaintext version (v1). I can confirm that this implementation works well behind HAProxy (which it should, since it's their protocol anyway). Cicada Macro Photography (5 image gallery) — Cicada are a big bulky tank of an insect that pop up here every other year during the summer time. They are quite noisy but very cool looking and non aggressive. This one perched itself on top of my outdoor power cord, I believe it is beginning the process of molting its skin.

i see the comments are in the 'newest first' order. today i continued my post with comments, and i see the first comment is a continuation of a second. people usually scroll from up to down, so i guess the default way of having up to down comments chronologically would be better. otherwise they need to read the post, then go down, then gradually navigate upwards. also i can imagine that the click on the arrow which shows order of comments(it is upward now, and i cannot find the way to change...

in web world, when the server software contains a web server, it is usually is designed to listen on some port, and then our main web server (apache/nginx/whatever) can be configured to proxy https to that port. in gemini world, we often have gemini projects that itself listen on 1965, but i guess/hope can be configured to listen on some other port. do we have a gemini server that can serve several capsules, and 'proxypass' requests to different ports? Urgh, my capsule is down thanks to Oracle's free tier cloud service being jank as hell. Per [gemini link] alls I gotta do is rebuild the instance and I can use the same boot volume and stay within the free tier now that my trial is up. Chicken of the Woods — I took this one a couple of years ago. We were on a mushroom hunting hike through Stebbins Canyon, where we spotted this lovely shroom in a shallow ravine while walking back to the car. Everyone else on the hike had gone home already. We took it home and I soaked it in brine, then fried it and served it with a white sauce and fettuccine. It tasted good but gave me a horrible stomachache shortly afterwards.

I tried out Hare shortly after it was publicly announced and found it pretty cool then, but haven't gone back to it again until recently. It's got a really minimalist ethos, which I really like. I did have to patch the port on FreeBSD to get it to work there, but it was a single line added to config.mk. Hopefully the maintainer will act on it quickly.
