I was on my way home. The first sign for the presence of a curse which I noticed was the interference between magic and electricity, leading to a rather unpleasant flickering of the street lights. Shortly afterwards, I saw it. The green cloud, slowly diffusing towards me. Now that it seemed to have found me, it did not seem to care about time anymore.
I fell into a paralysis of sorts, as this was the first time that I saw a real curse outside my studies. And it even was one that was directed towards me! While I stared at the air in disbelief, I frantically searched my mind for the right spell to cast to protect me from a foreign curse, but it did not want to jump off my tongue.
As a last resort, I ran away, keeping in my mind the tiny possibility that I could escape the curse this way. But, as fast as I ran, as fast it ran. It moved with me, and it came closer. Inch by inch by inch by inch.
And then it happened: It touched me. I readied myself for cardiac arrest, brutal acid death, or whatever it was the spellcaster had deemed a good way for me to pass, but none of it happened. I felt the cold as the cloud passed through me, but that was all that happened: It passed through me, and dissolved in the night.
For you cannot curse a dead name.
