Attentive readers will have already discovered the link to my "tiny Gemini capsule": SDF now also provides hosting of Gemini content.
Gemini content can be published on the cluster by placing an index.gmi file (and of course other *.gmi files as well) in the same directory the Gopher content is placed. This may seem unusual at first glance, but it works quite well. Users of the MetaArray have a second option to publish Gemini content which is independent of the Gopher directory structure.
The system is still a bit buggy, e.g., Gemini capsules hosted on the cluster have problems with serving larger images. They are only served partially. In some browsers, like Langrange, loading inline images will result in an an error message.
Getting started with Gemini on SDF
The SDF Public Access Unix System is one of the oldest providers (since 1987) for publicly accessible Unix systems on the Internet. The name is derived from the anime series "The Super Dimension Fortress Macross", as the server originally served as a BBS for fans of anime.
