Light of the Moon

Donald P. Goodman III

Version 1.0 (7 February 1202)

Arises now the moon, dispelling darken'd sky,

a beacon fit to rule the hidden land of night,

dispelling wisps of shadow'd cloud that would deny

her right command of all which looks upon her flight.

Her light is not her own; she shines another's light,

but ne'ertheless illumination fills the land;

illumination which will rightly give delight;

a light which, though reflected, is exceeding grand.

The sun is mighty, source of all the light that shines

upon an earth that's otherwise just dark and bland;

but still the moon with mighty sunlight e'er aligns,

her lights for still a greater light are but the signs.
