You kick a torso aside and jog up to the central computer. It only takes a minute to detach the briefcase-sized Data Core. Despite your cynical nature and years of horrible experience you let out a sigh of relief and dare to be positive.
But then you look up at the windows, showing the Ockerland Maelstrom in all its violent glory. The greens, purples and blues. It warps; a portion of it expands, the colours shifting through a sickly yellowish green, a bright orange, until it finally takes shape as a malevolently red ball of fire coursing at an impossible speed through the vastness of space.
