We had played in a number of bands together before. Neither of us had been deeply involved in any particular projects for awhile and had been toying around with songs on our own. I had recorded some demos and while we were hanging out one evening I had her listen to them and she added vocals to three of them. Listening to the ep you can likely tell that tracks 1,3, and 5 have a different sound and feel from tracks 2 and 4. Janessa brought tracks 2 and 4 over and we recorded them with my additions. I dont think either of us necessarily intended for the songs to go together, but as no further songs and no other projects materialized for quite some time, we decided to put them together as a little ep, which is what you have here. The two songs that Janessa was the primary writer for made their way onto a 7 inch lathe cut record that was released by the now dormant Sage Canyon label. I still have some copies if anyone is interested; I can be reached at < sloum AT rawtext.club >. If I recall correctly th e album was recorded with a Seagull 6-string acoustic-electric guitar, a Squire Cyclone electric guitar, a cheap store brand mandolin, a shruti box I got on ebay, and a single condenser microphone. I believe the guitars went direct into the audio interface and effects were mostly added in the recording program with the exception of some delay and reverb pedals for the electric guitar. The last track was likely the only one to use a mic'ed guitar; which would have run through a small Vox practice amp. - Brian Evans (2020-03-29) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
