Walking up along the Djerring trail to the shops this morning there were two signs that spring might be on its way — in addition to the first of the flowering wattles that I've started to see — a blackbird[1] perched on the back fence was singing its heart out, loud and continuous, reminding me that soon they'll be starting up earlier and earlier in the morning until we're hearing them well before dawn. The other sign was the first tinges of pink on the tips of the jasmine buds
