Raubahn (Savage) Guide

Original r/ffxiv post by a now-deleted user, via Teddit

Preface

Well, you’ve finally made it to Raubahn (Savage). You’ve asked for harder content and Square Enix has definitely delivered. If you’ve dived straight into the Main Story Quest you’re likely not even level 61. This is probably the hardest fight I’ve ever encountered and it will take some patience clearing it. Please have a clear mind and remain focused.

Unlike previous Final Fantasy XIV raids and trials Raubahn features smart mechanics. This means his attacks are not scripted and can come at any time. It is important that you and your group are prepared for everything he will dish out.

Fight Strategy

In phase one you are dealing with Raubahn’s basic attack structure. All of the phase one attacks will continue into the other phases. It is important that you adjust accordingly.

In phase one you will begin the encounter by speaking to Raubahn. Keep in mind, if your level is above 62, it will be synced. You will have the option of selecting “Proceed” to begin the first phase. At this point you may choose to watch the cut scene in its entirety. It’s likely you will wipe a few times while adjusting. Raubahn will not show mercy and his attacks only get stronger as time goes on.

Phase 1 Attacks

Devour Hope

This is Raubahn’s main attack and can target any member of your party. The attack usually hits at around the one hour mark and begins to cause morale loss. Whatever you do, don’t give up, this is only the beginning. This attack continues for the duration of the fight. The Warrior’s Shrug it Off works very well here. (Take that Paladins).

Leshy

Every few minutes Raubahn may spawn an add known as Leshy. Leshy will target the group with a conal AOE. It is important that you have the DPS grab this add and quickly burn him down. Leshy can interrupt you if he isn’t brought down.

Eternal Conflict

Raubahn will cast a zone-wide attack (yes, I said zone wide) that causes numerous people to begin arguing in /say and /shout. At this point it is important that you try to nullify the effects of this attack by trying to get others to calm down. If you want to beat Raubahn you’re going to need every man and woman you can get. Try to gain control of the situation and assert that you have a plan.

Phase 2

In this phase you will be spamming the “Proceed” button to initiate conversation with Raubahn and skipping the cut scene as fast as possible. Some members of your party may clear via this method but it is extremely unlikely.

The second method to beating Raubahn involves a lot of willpower and will push your skills to their limit. Are you able to play your Job correctly? That doesn’t matter. It’s time to use social skills and social engineering. Square Enix isn’t messing around.

You will want to gain control of the situation by asking your party to form a line. You need to do this through various explanations and use of logical reasoning. If you somehow manage to get your group to form a line, you’re half way there.

Phase 2 Attacks

Ninety-K

Raubahn begins this phase with an attack like-no-other; it just got personal. If you are hit with Ninety-K, it is unavoidable, undodgeable, and cannot be mitigated by Hallowed Ground, Living Dead, or Holmgang. This attack will immediately disconnect you from the server.

Event Movement

You will be given the message “A System error has occured during event movement”, this implies that you have died and must begin the encounter again.

Dizzy Miss Grizzly

Raubahn spawns a FATE near your party called Dizzy Miss Grizzly in an attempt to dissuade you from continuing the encounter. It may seem enticing due to the fact that you have likely wasted hours of your life at this point but do not fall for it. Doing so will end the encounter giving meaningless XP. This is usually followed by another series of Leshy adds.

Phase 3

If you’ve made it here, you have somehow managed to organize a line on your world and have reasoned with hundreds of people. You should be proud of your self but you’re not out of the woods yet. It’s time to find other super heroes like your self.

In order to defeat Raubahn, once and for all, you will need to organize a unified effort to form lines on every world with others. This is the most difficult part of the encounter and few will succeed. Should you succeed, Raubahn will let people pass in small numbers, one after the other, if not, get ready for the final wave of attacks.

Phase 3 Attacks

Remember, you will be dealing with all of Phase One and Two here in addition to these new events.

Doomsayer

Despite your futile attempts to organize a line Raubahn calls a random player to his aid. This player will likely begin talking about the server issues, saying something profane, and doing everything he can to dissuade your group from succeeding in /say and /shout. This is a tank buster and must be immediately healed with opposition chat messages.

Double Ninety-K

This is the most demoralizing attack in the game and I believe it needs to be nerfed. Raubahn calls upon all of his malice immediately hitting you with a Ninety-K attack sending you out of the game. But wait, that’s not all! Raubahn isn’t finished with you yet. After you’ve waited through your server queue Raubahn is going to hit you with ANOTHER Ninety-K.
