I found a really cool map of Detroit (where I'm from) that overlays celeb homes and important historical places. It's pretty interesting seeing places I've driven by or lived by that have historical significance. It's also crazy to me how close so many celebs lived to each other. I found out that Smokey Robinson and Diana Ross grew up a couple houses down from each other! (Which led me to a bonkers conspiracy theory that they are Michael Jackson's parents.)

It's amazing how much history is around us. I used to have an app that showed Wikipedia articles on a map. This was especially great for traveling. I remember visiting NYC and sitting on a bench reading about all the history that happened around me. Then I'd go walk around and take a look at all the sites. (Sidenote: this is also why I recently started taking walking tours when traveling, which I highly recommend.)
The wiki map app is gone. Other ones have popped up and disappeared. I wonder if it was taken down by Wikipedia, who then added that feature into their own app, only to remove it some time later. Theres a couple now on the Google Play store but seem to just open websites. There's one on F-Droid but I couldn't get it working properly. Anyways, the best thing now is to just use a website, it works well enough these days. There's two I've found that work nicely.
I hope you find something interesting local to you that you didn't know about!
xoxo
