ONE WORD to describe the three nights of Dermot Kennedy would be:
emotional.
The Dublin singer-songwriter got all of his 90,000 fans pulling on
their heart strings as he delivered an unforgettable performance each
night.
It was evident he bares his soul into his art and you certainly felt
that as he expressed it.
Although the stadium was filled with thousands each night it felt
extremely intimate and almost as if Dermot was performing directly to
you.
Supporting Dermot, first up was Limerick band KingFishr, a group of UL
engineering students who took a turn into the music industry and have
not looked back since.
With reference to the Limerick win, band leader Edmond Keogh expressed;
‘how does five in a row sound?’ before he and his fellow band members
passionately warmed up the crowd.
Following KingFishr was Cian Ducrot and he got the crowd going with a
giggle as well as a gig!
The Cork singer expressed his funny nature which many may have not seen
in his viral flash mob videos on TikTok of his song ‘All For You’ which
launched him to fame.
His music proves to be emotional and moving and he touched many with
the reason behind his song ‘Part Of Me’ as he explained to the crowd it
was wrote after his friend sadly passed away from suicide.
Dermot came on stage soon after and went into the crowd wearing a
Munster jersey and made his way to his piano to perform ‘Innocence and
Sadness’ and it was magical.
The 31 year-old singer sang some of his most popular hits ‘Power Over
Me’, ‘Rome’ and ‘Outnumbered’.
The start of the weekend was dry and sunny and although there were dark
skies and thunder showers on Sunday, the sun came out and the beautiful
dusky sky lit up the stadium as well as the sound of Dermot's guitar.
DERMOT KENNEDY THOMOND PARK
Dermot and his band finished on a popular song ‘Giants’ but not before
the crowd gave an electric cheer for the singer as he looked visibly
emotional at finishing three nights in a row.
You could not help but be emotional as the crowd sang back the words to
Dermot as he stood and admired, it was something that gave everyone in
the audience goosebumps.
Dermot expressed his gratitude on his Instagram after his Sunday show
as he was presented with a plaque to represent his achievement of being
the first artist to sell out three consecutive nights at Thomond
Park.

“That’s a wrap, 90,000 people in here over the last three days. The
first artist ever to sell out 3 nights at Thomond Park. Thank you for
breaking that record. What a beautiful feeling these last few days have
been!! Thank you thank you thank you,”
One thing is for certain not only did these nights make you proud to be
from Limerick it made you proud to be Irish.
We have an amazing music culture within Ireland and Dermot himself
expressed ‘thank you for supporting music like this, it means more than
words can explain’.
