Ciaran Mather, 10 Jul
The principal of a school in Kilcock has paid tribute to two students,
Ellemae Salmon and David / Deividas Muizininks, who have died.
In a letter addressed to parents and guardians of students at Scoil
Dara, principal David McCormack said: "It is with deep sadness that I
write this letter to share the news of the passing of two beloved
members of our school family, Ellemae and Deividas.
"During times like this it is important that we come together as a
community to support one another.
"Losing a loved one is a challenging experience, and we understand
the impact that this news will have on our students."
Mr McCormack continued: "We want to ensure that they receive
the necessary support to navigate through their grief; our school has
taken steps to provide assistance to our students and staff during
this difficult time and are liaising with NEPS (the National
Educational Psychological Service) to co-ordinate this support.
"Our dedicated team of Guidance Counsellors will be on hand to provide
support, guidance, and a safe space for students to express their
feelings and emotions.
"We kindly ask that you keep an open dialogue with your child during
this time and encourage them to share their thoughts and feelings and
remind them that it is okay to grieve.
"Additionally, please inform the school if you believe your child
requires additional support or if you have any concerns. We have placed
some literature on our school website to assist you all at this
difficult time.
"Lastly, we wish to extend our deepest condolences to the families and
friends of Ellemae and Deividas: our thoughts and prayers are with you
all during this difficult time.
"Together as a community we will grieve, we will support and in time we
will heal."
"Ar dheis Dé go raibh a n-anamacha," he concluded.
The funeral for Ellemae is expected to take place tomorrow at 12pm in
St Coca's Church, Kilcock.
A Guard of Honour will take place from the school gates.
