I've seen The Flaming Lips in concert, and it's a trip. Their whole career is a trip. This album is a trip too. It's mostly airy, ebullient, extravagantly layered pop rock, but with a weird psychedelic twist you can't quite pin down. It is shockingly original, yet many of the songs are hummable as well. Truly one of the best.
