Podcasts I Like

I thought I'd list podcasts I'm enjoying at the moment:

index

Late Night Linux

Late Night Linux is really the only podcast I listen to focused on tech/Linux topics. The hosts are not preachy or Linux purists, but they feel relatable in their approach to trying to make open source and free solutions a priority. They go through some news topics and I'm always interested in their newest "finds" each week. I like that they don't take themselves or the Linux community too seriously, and they're very funny as well.

Ghost of a Podcast

I was really into astrology, but lately its piqued my interest. This podcast is the only astrology podcast I listen to and I think it provides me with more than enough of what I need. Ghost of a Podcast is hosted by Jessica Lanyadoo, and every week she reads a guest's astrology chart and gives them the astrological perspective on something they're going through in their life.

Jessica is an incredible host and her readings and advice are very insightful. She also goes through the weekly horoscope and covers a myriad of different topics through an astrological lens. I don't completely understand a lot of the terminology she uses, but I still find it fascinating. I definitely recommend this podcast if you have even a fleeting interest in astrology.

Sounds Like a Cult

This podcasts reminds me a little of QAnon Anonymous, but bite-sized and covering a wider spectrum of topics. The episodes are nice and short at about thirty minutes. The two hosts Isa and Medina cover modern day groups and figures and attempt to discern whether they are a cult.

Like any podcast centered on something serious like cults, the discussion and material can get serious and somewhat dark. However, the two hosts do a great job of reining things in and adding a more light-hearted tone to the conversation. The guests they bring in are great as well and add an interesting dimension to the different topics.

This is a pretty fun podcast and definitely gets a recommendation from me.

Off Book: The Improvised Musical

I just learned of this podcast and I am obsessed! The two hosts Zach Reino and Jessica McKenna invite guests onto the show, and with the help of their brilliant pianist Scott Passarella, they improvise hilarious musicals about anything and everything.

Zach and Jess ooze talent and their ability to sing and improvise is truly mind-blowing. And on top of all that they are hilarious! Every episode feels new and unique, and Zach and Jess expertly play on their guest's strengths, whether it be the singing, the improvising, the comedy, or any combination of the three.

I've been binging this show for days now and I'm still hooked. I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone!

The Greatest Generation

I've been listening to this podcast from nearly the beginning. It's a comedic Star Trek review podcast. They started with The Next Generation and have since gone through Deep Space Nine and are onto Voyager. They go through every episode in order and I've enjoyed every episode.

It's funny and insightful, the hosts have great chemistry and I've seen them live many times and every show was a blast. If you have any interest in Star Trek I highly recommend this podcast.

Not Another D&D Podcast

This is another podcast that I started listening to early on. It's a D&D play show with four College Humor alumi and it's an absolute hoot. The DM Brian Murphy is incredible, between his world-building and his game management, he's an absolute legend in my eyes.

Oh, and by the way, everyone at the table is hilarious! The jokes come fast and loose and there are legitimately times where I had to stop what I was doing because I was laughing so hard. There's a massive backlog of episodes, multiple campaigns in different settings and with different characters. Another wholehearted recommendation!

Keeping Records

Keeping Records is by far one of the funniest podcasts out there. The hosts are Shelby Wolstein and Caleb Hearon, and each week they invite a guest on to share what they would include on their version of the golden record sent into space decades ago. Caleb and Shelby have amazing chemistry and are incredibly funny. As of writing this, Shelby is still hosting the show, but Caleb has been replaced with EJ Marcus, and I can confirm I am still laughing uncontrollably.

QAnon Anonymous

I found this podcast through another podcast High and Mighty (also recommend), and I was instantly hooked. The three hosts Julien, Jake, and Travis, discuss the insanity of QAnon conspiracy theories and breaking developments in the QAnon 'universe'.

What I really enjoy about this podcast is how well-researched each episode is. They take a deep-dive into what the conspiracy is, but more importantly what the actual facts are. Between laughing at the absurdity of these conspiracy theorists and having my mind blown by some of the crazy things people believe, I binged their entire backlog in a matter weeks.
