The scope of accessible entertainment has expanded rapidly, while new more addicting entertainment mediums have proliferated. We spend increasing hours in a kind of semi-vegetative slavery, our attention locked to materials expressly crafted to captivate us.
The maintenance of a civilization demands the commitments and exertions of its members. We must remain engaged with our spouses and children, our family and friends, our community and polity. If enough of us fall into a stupor of entertainment consumption our society will fall into barbarity.
