It was the first book of 2022 list, and I was really excited to get started. I had never read anything from Terry Pratchett, but vaguely heard of him and the Discworld series in positive notes.
Well, this was disappointing to say the least. The pitch is more or less the Apocalypse, with the ante-Christ walking on earth, but in modern time. The apocalypse horses are actually bikers, that kind of stuff. It could be a good story, but the way it's laid out, I didn't care so much about it.
I think this book really relies on its humor to work. I'm not sure if it's not my type of humor, or maybe it just aged badly, but it's not very funny. It's not bad, but a slight smile from time to time is not enough to carry the story.
But beside the average storyline, the meh sense of humor, what really did not work for me was the CONSTANT change of scene, time and introduction of new characters. Oh, you're finally getting into the story? Oh it's only the middle of the book, let me stop that, and tell you about that 30th character that I will never be mentioning again.
I forced myself to continue, but I think I stopped at page ~260/350, after yet another break in the story. I figured that at that point it was not going to get better or different and that I was not actually enjoying it.
