not far from the county seat
you can see straight through broken barns
to utility poles connected to nothing
looking long enough to find what you want
saving the rest to run on empty
no one asks for a take home box
at the all you can eat restaurant
butter soaked texas toast
lands on the pan
and starts to sizzle
garlic in oil, old water boils
a cup of hot tea
with honey drizzles
your hands are candles
aloft and soft
tapered and chiseled
your warmth is melting
real slow out the window
part-time barflies
do fine on bells and whistles
