It's been awhile. I'm "a little" late with this, as my interests shifted to LNs (light novels) last week and I am just catching up on Summer anime now.
With that out of the way, let's get into it. We finally saw more Kyon-Kyon appearances this week. It was completely separate from the main plot, which provided a quick break from all of the action. We also learned that "hao chi" is the Chinese word for "delicious". You can discern that from the context and how they (she and her pandafied sister) say it. It was said with a higher note on the "chi" just like "oishii" is said with a higher note on the "shii". I could go on and on about the linguistics, but it's outside the scope of this post.
Jashin failed to kill Yurine 3 times in this episode. The first was when Jashin disguised herself as a gold statue while concealing a gun she bribed Officer Tachibana for. Yurine suspected her all along, given how she announced she was leaving the room to go to the bookstore, immediately came back, and then started telling jokes to "herself". Jashin of course couldn't contain her laughter and revealed herself instantly. Then she just decided to pull out the gun on Yurine only to find out it was a small lizard. Tachibana then came to pick up Jashin for the week.
Attempt #2: After getting back from Tachibana's place, Jashin had her Switch taken away by Yurine. Yurine then made Jashin give her a massage. Jashin turned the massage into a pummeling of chops and punches, only to find out it made Yurine feel better than ever. Classic TV moment right there. Predictable, but in a good way. Yurine then chopped Jashin's shoulders really hard, breaking both sides of her collarbone. Fun fact: Devils heal very fast and Jashin's collarbone would be back to normal in ~6 hours! Yay!
Attempt #3: The longest attempt, but requires the least description. Jashin dug a hole in front of Pekola's house, but didn't consider how she'd get herself out. Luckily Pekola had a whip in her house that Jashin could climb up. Then she brought Yurine out, only for Pekola to self-sacrifice and save her. Jashin didn't play it cool and fake being surprised (as she isn't good at that), and spilled her whole plan via yelling at
Pekola. Yurine turned the tables on Jashin, kicking her into the hole and dropping a boulder on her! Pekola got out first of
course.
Interesting moment in the beginning when Beth's doghouse caught on fire, but Yusa and Koji showed up in the nick of time to put it out with their ice breath. Koji made Jashin grovel and wait on her in return. Pretty fun. I'll be back later this week with a review of episode 5!
