To Know Or To Know

Or, Against Truth-Bombs

We strive to know, and in our learning to become right.

We forget to know, and from that familiarity to become good.

We brandish our insight as our _saber_,

Ready to do battle,

To brand our foes like cattle,

To burn into their hides our truth.

Would that we would _conocer_;

Would seek out in love,

Would rank their souls above

The ranking of "winner" and "loser."

For as our _saber_s rattle,

As we charge into battle,

Our steel is just a noisy gong

And a clanging cymbal.
