Chances are that you do not have one or more routers that are preinstalled with OpenWrt. The process of getting OpenWrt onto a router is always the same.
1. Flash the firmware with an OpenWrt compatible layout.
2. Use the sysupgrade feature of OpenWrt to update the router to the latest supported version of OpenWrt.
The devil is in the details, as usual, but if OpenWrt supports your router, you can use the methods and firmware images provided by OpenWrt. Check out the OpenWrt documentation [1][2]. Getting OpenWrt on a router that is not supported is (much) more tricky and beyond the scope of this post. Maybe some other time.
Installing OpenWrt on a Cudy WR2100 [1] router follows the same basic steps outlined above. However, CudyTech is supportive of OpenWrt and provides custom OpenWrt images to make installing OpenWrt a breeze.

1. Get the custom OpenWrt image here [1]
2. Login to your Cudy WR2100 Webinterface, skip the setup wizard.
3. Go to Advanced Setttings
4. Go down to System, click Firmware
5. Select Upload Image
6. Select the custom OpenWrt image
7. Click OK
8. Wait & Done
On next reboot your router will launch into a custom OpenWrt instance. It is easy to spot because it probably shows a firmware version older than 21.02 and runs an older Linux kernel. Current OpenWrt versions run at least a Linux 5.4 kernel.

1. Take a look here [1]
2. Get the latest firmware for your Cudy WR2100 here [2]
3. Type "cudy" into the field on the left
4. Select the WR2100
5. Select the latest firmware (at time of writing 21.02)
6. Note the sha256 checksum
7. Select the Sysupgrade image and download
8. Login to your Cudy WR2100 with custom OpenWrt image webinterface
9. On the top, go to System -> Backup/Flash firmware
10. Go to Flash new firmware image and press the big blue button
11. Browse and select the official OpenWrt image you just downloaded
12. Check the checksum and if it matches, click proceed
13. Wait. The router reboots automatically when done
14. Login to the updated router
15. Done
After installing a new and clean OpenWrt image the router will route traffic on wired connections only. You have to set up WLANs manually. The firewall settings are dropping anything coming in from the WAN interface, so are safe.
