Welcome to the Gemini server of ajtjp.com!
This site is brand new as of June 27, 2020. It just got up and running around 1:36 AM EDT.
So far I'm adding content slowly over time, which is similar to how it has been with my HTTP and Gopher sites. Some of this content may be unique to the Gemini portal; some may be cross-posted. I'm still deciding if each site will have its own focus.
Which Gemini Servers are Maintained (5/22)?
I discovered Gemini in May 2020, but didn't discover a browser that ran on my system right away. Thus I wrote one, but hadn't set up a Gemini capsule yet. So I figured I should probably create a Gemini capsule, to complement my HTTP and Gopher sites. It is to be determined what this capsule will specialize in relative to those options.
I will most likely post about my browser sometime around June 28th. I've been using it for over a month now, so it's at least somewhat usable.
Currently, most of my content lives on Gopher and HTTP. My Gopher site tends to be more technical, and/or targeted towards a narrower audience, and has been up since 2015. You can visit it here:
My HTTP site has gone through a couple iterations, currently favoring a minimalist, HTML-only approach. It tends to have somewhat longer posts than the Gopher site, and also is the current location of links to my software projects. You can view it here:
This server is powered by Gemserv and is running on Ubuntu Bionic in DigitalOcean. I've configured it to use the same Let's Encrypt certificates as the HTTP site, which might result in it going down in early September when the certificate renews. I'm curious if others have done this as well, or if it's generally a good idea to simply create your own certificate.
The same server powers the HTTPS, Gopher, and Gemini sites.
You can reach me at gemini@ajtjp.com. I would be curious to interact with fellow citizens of the Gemini space, and if your capsule shows up on Spacewalk, there's a decent chance I've already viewed it.
