OH.MG is comprised of five geographically seperated web servers behind a CDN to improve performance, connect to each location where the specific content is hosted, and to cache / limit the need to regenerate HTML content too frequently.
OH.MG is published from more friendly countries not only for privacy and freedom of expression, but also tend to use more ecological methods of powering their data centres :

OH.MGopher is hosted on site in Paris, France - currently there is no automated mirroring between Gemini and the content may be stale.
DNS is hosted by ClouDNS, 1984.is, or CloudFlare (currently being demissioned).
This site doesn't use web trackers, only GoatCounter and Plausable that records site usage information and not individual user data.

OH.MG either fully blocks or throttles traffic from certain countries due to excessive bot attacks or because their governments are generally being shitty to the population. All countries listed here are guilty of at least one of the above and I'll leave you to decide which.
