Plant Station: MICRO

https://eeit-studio.itch.io/micro

What is this game?

Tiny retro-inspired game where you collect items and grow plants.
The Earth is gone and you play as artificial intelligence traveling trough the space, trying to recover plants that not a long time ago inhabited the Earth.

It was a free game with a downloadable APK file on itch.io, so I decided to check it out just to test my Mitch app, I guess.

Did I enjoy playing it?

No, the game is cute but just far too basic. You are a mobile space plant pot (?) that just drives around on a 2D grid, picks up resources, and once it has enough resources it grows a plant. Plants give you coins which let you buy upgrades. Plant Station: MICRO has all the depth of a clicker game with the satisfaction level of maybe a house cleaning job (which for me at least is not much, this metaphor is trying to say that the game sucks). I got bored after 20 minutes or so but kept going for an hour to try to see some sort of ending, but I don't think there is one. *4/10* I believe this was made as a demo/promo/beta for a more full-fledged game, but that one is only available on Google Play, which I will not play on my de-Googled phone.

Playing it on Linux, or low-spec hardware?

The game could easily work on the original Game Boy or of course something like the PICO-8. However, it does use a slightly more bloated game engine than that. Still, it's cross-platform, and the Android version worked well enough.
