Have you ever felt the power of, when an command is doing something you don’t know and then you just put strace in front of it and suddenly there are no more secrets!? POWER!

I've got a 13 day streak going in Palmdle (wordle for Palm OS). It has become my morning routine to sync my new reading material and play Palmdle.

Where oh where to capsule? β€” I thought this might not be for me. Part of it was concern I was playing into evildoers turning Gemini into what The Web became. But, then, I really need to stop worrying about others' online politics, e.g. whether Microsoft/Google/etc. are "evil" to be overtly - not to mention overly - avoided. I can has capsules wherever I like! What it comes down to is whether I can adjust to writing/editing posts in this somewhat clunky per-line fashion.

First Linux package contribution β€” Yesterday I finally make my first contribution but void linux! It’s funny that I’ve been using a bunch of distributions for years but the first one that I was motivated enough contribute, and that made it straight forward enough to do so, was void :) I’m not gonna rage about how xbps or their void-packages works, but suffice to say, I finally did it!

I was hoping that someone would start a FreeBSD subspace here. I just installed 13.2 onto real hardware for the first time in a while. FreeBSD used to be my everyday OS for a few years, and while I had my reasons for walking away I have to say I did miss it. [gemini link] Some thoughts after installation

[ POLL ] Astronaut vs Capsuler vs Captain vs Pilot β€” I have been never satisfied with the adoption of "Capsuler", if you run a Capsule then you should be an "Astronaut", on the wake of the Gemini spirit. However if we all are essentially Geminauts then the ones that have a capsule might be also "Pilots" or "Captains". What do you think? let me know your opinions! Thanks... πŸ™

ORRERY missed today! I can't believe it -- it is one of my favorite things (and words). Also my favorite episode of 'Storage Wars' features an orrery... ("So this is an ovary?" "No sir, this is definitely not an ovary!")

Jason F. McBrayer's capsule is among the first Gemini hosts, listed as #3 on gemini.circumlunar.space. I find it fascinating to read the early gemlog entries. Imagine if the name "Geminiverse" had taken off instead of Geminispace... [gemini link] 2019-07-29 The Geminiverse

BBS has been updated to Bubble v4.2: Added Snowflake avatar. Improved tag editor: use correct terms ("post" or "issue") and removed redundancy in the UI. Issue trackers display the number of issues in the top heading. Fixed draft undercounting in the dashboard link (comment and issue tracker drafts were not included). Moved tagging actions to the moderator group under post actions, for clarity. Minor page formatting tweaks.

If I could add one thing to the gemtext spec, it would be a horizontal line rule (like <hr/>). You can do it manually, but you can't know how wide the reader's screen is and if you guess badly it looks weird.

Just finished reading the first 2 books of the Silo series by High Howey (Wool and Shift) working on the 3rd now. This series is addictive! The show got me into it, but I’m finding the books a lot more interesting. Anyone else reading the books or watching the show?

Got interested in Palm again after reading some stuff here on Gemini. Dug out my old Tungsten E to find the screen about 25% dead, still booted up though! I spent a large portion of my childhood writing code with OnboardC and the folding Palm keyboard while on car trips. Anyways, just ordered a Tungsten T3 (I love the sliding concept) with keyboard and case, I’m so excited. Maybe I can find my old apps I wrote? Either way, want to start daily driving it for ToDos, notes and Warfare Inc. Any...
