lately, i've been have a crisis of loneliness, and i'm frustrated by the fact that virtually all public meeting places are mediated by commercial, privately owned entities. pay to exist. the only place i can read, work, take a meeting, or use the bathroom for free is the library -- and they have been showing signs of death in certain regions of the US.
the internet has suffered the same phenomenon. when all the spaces are commercial gateways, what happens to discoverability of public spaces where people are simply allowed to exist and connect free of charge (or free of data collection).
of course this is somewhat ironic to say on gemini, but it's just one of the many reasons why i'm here. however even in geminispace, what am i supposed to do for discoverability back in meatspace? i'm not completely sure. any tips?
